‘Frankenstein’ returns for another sell-out Beijing screening

Tuesday, April 29th, 2014

Following enormously popular sell-out screenings in Beijing in 2013 and 2013, the National Theatre Live production of Frankenstein returned to Beijing on 9th March, presented by the KT Wong Foundation. The critically-acclaimed production, starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller, enjoyed yet another sell-out showing and outstanding reception from Beijing cinema goers.

Directed by Danny Boyle and based on Mary Shelley’s classic novel, this new production of Frankenstein was adapted for the stage by Nick Dear. Following a five-star critical reception during its run at London’s National Theatre, the show has been seen by audiences across the globe through National Theatre Live screenings.

The Chinese premiere of Frankenstein, presented in June 2012 by the KT Wong Foundation, was a breakthrough for both China and the Foundation: the first time National Theatre Live has been brought to China and the first event of its kind in Beijing.
