Lang Lang, Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion bring ‘The Prayer’ to Lady Gaga’s Together at Home concert

Tuesday, April 21st, 2020

As the coronavirus crisis continues, some of the world’s best-loved musicians join forces and sing for those who need it the most.

Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli, piano virtuoso Lang Lang and pop-soul singer John Legend joined pop icons Lady Gaga and Celine Dion to perform a virtual rendition of ‘The Prayer’, amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The poignant performance took place on Saturday as part of the ‘One World: Together At Home’ online concert – a collaboration between Gaga (who also curated the event) and Global Citizen to raise money for the WHO’s COVID-19 Response Fund

In the video (watch below), we see Lang Lang play the classical crossover duet’s moving intro in his usual spectacular style, cueing in his quarantined musical friends.

With millions of people worldwide streaming the concert to hear their beautiful harmonies, the unlikely ensemble have shared a powerful moment of music.

Hosted by late-night show stars, Jimmy Fallon, Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel, the concert featured more than 100 artists from different genres over an eight-hour period.

With The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Elton John and Stevie Wonder among the musicians on the – frankly spectacular – line-up, millions of people tuned in worldwide to see their favourites sing online.

Pianist Gina Redlinger also joined her husband, Lang Lang, to play a beautiful version of ‘Four Hands’, as the talented couple self-isolate together at home.

During the concert, Gaga told viewers: “I feel very honoured to be a part of the WHO and Global Citizen in the fight against COVID-19. I care so much about all of the medical workers who are putting their lives at risk for us right now.

“I think of them every day, I pray for them every day and I’m also thinking of all of you who are at home and are wondering when all of this will be different.”
