Thursday, May 31st, 2018

Evora Africa has been brought to Portugal for the first time. Taking place in the historic Alentejan town of Évora, the festival will uncover the many faces of a contemporary Africa, the continent of the future, where sacred rituals of the past merge with urban art of a vibrant, modern and changing world. Hosted at the historic Palace of the Dukes of Cadaval, this illuminating festival uses its spectacular setting to showcase Africa’s artistic and musical diversity. The palace rooms will house André Magnin and Philippe Boutté’s expertly curated exhibition, showcasing important works from leading artists and photographers from across Africa, while the continent’s musical and performance prowess will be highlighted in a memorable line-up of concerts and performances featuring storytellers, griots, rituals, folk dances and DJs.
