Archipelago Cinema

Tuesday, November 5th, 2013

On the 27th August 2012 the KT Wong Foundation presented Ole Scheeren’s Archipelago Cinema – a floating auditorium that formed part of the official selection of collateral projects in the 13th International Architecture Exhibition.

An evocative outdoor theatre located within the old harbour basin Darsena Grande of the Arsenale, Venice’s historic shipyard, Scheeren’s Archipelago Cinema was opened by Lady Davies who also presented the world premiere of acclaimed documentary maker, Horst Brandenburg’s ‘Against All Rules’ that explores the work and philosophy of German-born and Beijing-based architect Ole Scheeren.

Attending guests included the BBC’s creative director, Alan Yentob, Director of the Victoria and Albert Museum, Martin Roth and Director of the Barbican, Sir Nicholas Kenyon.

The Foundation are delighted to support Ole Scheeren’s Archipelago Cinema and the world premiere of Horst Brandenburg’s ‘Against All Rules’.  As an architect working between China and the West, Scheereen’s pioneering vision complements the core ethos of the Foundation – to establish innovative cultural conversations between China and the rest of the world.
